Raj has been DJing since he discovered a faulty switch on his Hi-Fi allowed him to play records and tapes at the same time, 17 years later and Raj’s prolific turntable skills, sagely club savvy and the astonishing depth and breadth of his musical knowledge makes him an awesome performer. Raj has supported some of the biggest names in club and contemporary music culture, across a huge diversity of styles, from Q-Bert, Gilles Peterson, Peshay DJ Food, through Richie Hawtin, Tony Allen, Talvin Singh and Robert Plant. The List of Artists Raj has supported and worked wiht over the years is astounding. His relative unknown status and truly astonishing ability makes him a true star in the making......

"I first met Raj in back in the late 90's and was immediately struck, not only by his skill on the turntables, but by the depth of knowledge and breadth of musical taste for someone of his age. Most young Djs and 'turntablists' concentrate on one or two styles of music and rarely play anything except accepted classics from those genres next to the all important latest releases. Raj went much deeper and, besides his enviable technical ability on the decks, he was innovating new tricks i'd never seen or heard before too. He's a perfectionist too which is why he's been biding his time and honing his skills all this time, virtually unknown. He takes risks in front of crowds with his routines that can be appreciated by the initiated or the ignorant and his appearance at our night made it into one of the best of the year."- DJ FOOD Strictly Kev [Ninjatune]

In the last few years: Raj has been teaching DJ’ing and Turtable instrumentation both privately and at degree level, some of his students gaining BMus qualifications due to his tutoring at Newcastle University.

A master of the cut and paste, as a truly innovative artists of the sample culture, Raj has naturally began to diversify his art to incorporate audiovisual performance, this step was organic following Raj's succesful collaborations with The Lightsurgeons and DFuse. Raj premiered his first standalone AV piece 'kungfu edit' during AV festival 2003 [www.avfest.co.uk], the piece was created using the fledgling ‘EJ' software which allows artists to manipulate video files using record turntables.

Raj featured heavily at UMAMi.tv's DigitaLondon concept project, sharing his skills and the secrets of his technique to artists, peers and punters alike. Raj takes his teaching experiences and applies it practically in this combination of  a jam, workshop, talk and gig..... see the inside of the sample master's head....
